It had enough yarn for me to make two gnomes! The yarn is soft, the instructions were clear, the videos were a nice touch.

Get ready to count! Theres 177 stitches in a row! Whoa! Its all hdc in those rows, so its great practice if you have trouble with that stitch. I did, but not anymore! I feel like an hdc expert now! even though it was a lot, it goes pretty fast, so dont let it discourage you. The antlers were a misery, thoughbut the deer is the most adorable thing! I love the piece! The more asterisks, the rarer they are. The stitches with no asterisks have been in every kit Ive tried. Ive crocheted for almost six months now! This is my eighteenth project and I feel I might be an intermediate crochetter now (my stitches are a lot more even now and I dont often have to look at the video instructions much anymore. I still find new stitches and dont understand things sometimes, though, so Im definitely not advanced). I think this is do-able as a second project. The stitches arent hard ones, but it is long and requires a lot of counting (had trouble with the counting)Experience:The antlers were so hard! The yarn color was dark and it was small and hard to hold (because I hurt my thumb). I tried to keep count but I kept messing up over and over, but I couldnt for some reason. I did some of them over three times. They were so frustrating! Im pretty sure some of my antler parts have a circumference of more than four sc.I liked making the candy cane part (its really clever the way they did it!) and I think the sphere shape of the deer will come in handy some day :) If it wasnt for the antlers this wouldve been a half day project. The antlers made me not want to crochet for a day and a halfantler dread (its a thing! XD).>>Tip: The darkest brown yarn is the Dark curry color.Instructions/Difficulty:Video: They dont show you all the stitches in the project. Just the first couple ones and if there are repeated ones of the same kind, itll gloss over those. They dont make you watch commercials during the videos. The AI voice over says wind as in the kind that blows in the sky instead of the kind that means wrapping yarn around. There are captions for everything the AI voice says and the row of stitches from the instructions are shown in the top left corner.Paper:I mostly used the paper instructions and they are pretty complete. I didnt like how they just told me to keep sc in groups of four until the thing was 0.8 inches (thats about 13/16th if youre looking at a ruler or you can just approximate 3/4. It ended up bring four groupings of 4sc or 32sc for me). I thought it was vague. Otherwise I had no problems with the instructions. The paper instructions come with a booklet that explains how to do the stitches with photographs. Its the orange cover one that says DIY Handicrafts, if youre familiar with these kitsthey tend to include the same bookletMaterials:The yarn is soft but not floppy so its easy to use and see the stitches on (except for the dark curry yarn). The light brown yarn was kind of splitty. I love that they included safety doll eyes and the backs so I dont have to glue things. The stitch markers stayed closed. The wire for the candy cane is thin. You might want to twist it to make it stronger. The needles included are the plastic kind that is harder to push through crocheted pieces and fiber fill so I used my own metal one instead. The bird pins are so cute! Theyre super sharp (dont leave it in just the ziplock bag on the bed!) and really helped when I was sewing on the white circle to the deers face (the piece you sew on tends to move while sewinglike a lot more than when you sew cloth). The crochet hook was a slower one for beginners and didnt give me cramps, but I did switch to my personal nooks so I could finish faster :)What I Did Different:Im kind of anti-glue for crochet projects (Im so messy with glue and avoid it when I can) so I tied and sewed everything on :)It was fun and turned out way cuter than I imagined :) I really love my deer and I think this was a good set!

This is a phenomenal kit. It has everything you need if you are a beginner. I had a lot of fun making this. They directions are clear and easy to follow. The packaging is also really nice so it would definitely be a great gift for someone.

Working on this kit now. Instructions are clear and easy to understand. Written instructions stated in standard US abbreviations. I prefer kits that come with true safety eyes like this one does. So far the project looks just like the one pictured. Yarn is just regular cheap acrylic. The price of the kit is amazing compared to many other kits of the same quality. Comes with pins for placement of the pieces before sewing. Also comes with several very cute needle threaders. Comes in a box that is very convenient for storage while working on your project. This also would make it very easy to wrap and give as a gift. Probably not a project for a very first time crocheter. I have done several kits so far while teaching myself to crochet. Before that, I had never tried crocheting. I am not having any difficulty with the instructions or techniques.
